So does that let me off the hook for being an asshole? :(

Hun, I really doubt there's anyone else here anymore...
No, it doesn't. Also, give it up.
So what would?
Also, why not?
By giving Yerf a decent burial on the internet and let it be. No one is interested in it anymore.
So I did. Does that make me a good or bad guy?
Neither. Why are you trying to redeem yourself now while you could've done it years ago?
Yerf. Give it up.
Several years ago, that would mean turning the site over to someone who could competently handle it. I don't know why you didn't, and don't want to speculate. In any case, it's too late for that. Yerf is dead.
Here January 2009, "give it up" means abandoning the illusion that Yerf will ever be alive again.
I don't think you're going to figure out your server. I say that as someone who contributed cash to help buy it, then waited for months while nothing happened. You would have had that server running long ago if you were ever going to. Assuming that it even exists.
A new Yerf would serve no purpose unless it provided something that other sites don't. I can't see that happening.
I would like nothing better than to have you prove me wrong. If you do, I'll eat my words without Sriracha sauce, and with pleasure.
You need to either make something happen in a big way, or just let Yerf go. Leave the redirect in place and go on to other things. If you're not going to do either, I suggest you just quit talking about it.
If I'm being harsh, I apologize. I don't think I am, though. I'm speaking as someone who followed Yerf since the early days of SCFA. I was extremely disappointed to see Yerf crash and die. I've since accepted it and moved on. I think it's safe to say that most readers have done likewise. We gave it up, and for good reasons.
Thanks for taking care of the site while it lasted. I wish you well in your future efforts.
By the way, yerf.com is redirecting to Jaxpad, not Artspots. I mention that only in case you want to change it.
Does nobody remember that I *did* have Yerf up for a while after I recieved donations? FUCK. I'm seen as a thief who just stole money from people when I REALLY DID use the money for server costs. SHIT.
And yes, I will make you eat your words. With habanero sauce. Laced with 12 hits of LSD.
That's not the point. Bottom line, you did not get Yerf up and running again. You failed. It's been years, Dingo. It's not going to serve any point with you taking the initiative now what could've been done years ago. It's clear from your reply that you didn't really read what danielcoon
said. But whatever.
No. Fuck anybody who tells me to give it up. I never give up. Fuck that. I don't care if it takes 20 years, I finish what I start.
If you want to finish what you start, then give it up gracefully. That's the smart way to go. Hand the domain across and walk away. It's done and finished.
If you want to do something else down the track, then do so under another name, in your own time, without the stigma of the YERF collapse around you.
But let YERF and everything it was be either absorbed or resurrected by someone else. Face it, anything you do with YERF from now on is going to be a target for ridicule and cynicism. The damage is done, accept it and move onwards and upwards.

lol, okay bro have fun with that
No way! I never have fun with things I do!
Cool. I'm looking forward to it.
Sorry, I replied to the wrong post. I look forward to you making me eat my words.
I'm not being sarcastic, either. I think it would be great, and I wish you the best.
Why do you need everyone to pat you on the back? Just put the redirect up and say nothing. Do you expect everyone to flock to yerf.com to see the wonders of a redirect in action?
The redirect is for people who haven't visited in a while and don't know what's happened although quite frankly it's been so long that if they don't know by now I suspect they don't care enough about the site anyway.
Why couldn't you direct them straight to yerf.artspots.com instead of waiting Higgins to do it?
I stand by what I said before that at this point you are solely in this for the attention it brings you.
Oh I'm used to bad attention, deal.
That's not what I meant and you know it.
Yes, but I'm also excellent at avoiding issues I don't wish on presently addressing.
Nothing's changed. Jobhunt and taking care of my father takes precedence over working on Apache, and I'm quite apathetic about it and not educated enough with mod_perl to figure it out without a huge time commitment.
Maybe in future I'll be able to motivate myself but not now. Good enough for you?
There, I took two seconds and redirected it simply. Whateva.

so to be more neurologically specific
So, to more specifically and creepily answer you.. Yes. I need a pat on the back. Why? I don't know. Suggestion is appreciated. Really. I don't expect anything or want anything. I just want freedom from it all. Don't know why I don't feel it yet.. I just need a pat on the back and a goodbye and I'm gone for good.
That's it. I've been here from 1996 and after, that's all I want.
And I'm gone. I guess. So pat me on the fucking back and I'm gone. What do you guys want? I'm sorry I fucked up, what more?

Re: so to be more neurologically specific
As a complete stranger who has followed the story from 1996 too, I'd just suggest to forget the whole issue and move on with your life. People aren't asking you to create a new art archive or to do something specific, so there is no point in agonizing more and more over the idea, it's just unhealthy.
If you still like furry art and the fandom you'll certainly find other ways to contribute in the future.
Okay. Done and done. Hopefully.
I think you should make Yerf what you feel in your heart and what your dreams say to do with it. I, for one, would love to see its return. Anyone who says to give it up should be forbidden access to the new site. They made their decision; they are through with Yerf.
But I see a chance of recreation. A new beginning with new ideals, while still providing the original dream, and possibly more... Will Yerf be a cleaner furry art site (non-furry porn) or will it simply be a mirror wannabe of FA, VCL, Yiffstar, and others like them?
The golden age of the old Yerf may be gone, but its offspring, the new Yerf, should be pursued for every reason, and beyond. If you need any help with anything, just drop me a line. I don't visit LiveJournal very often, so contacting me here is not a good idea. I may not see the message for months. The best way to contact me is to visit my forum.
Until then, keep the dream alive and... YERF! :)
